While many associate it with the tragic moment on August 6, 1945, when it became the target of the world's first atomic bomb attack, it has since evolved into a modern, cosmopolitan city known for its exceptional cuisine and vibrant nightlife. Hiroshima is home to two World Heritage Sites. The Itsukushima Shrine and the A-Bomb Dome, part of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial, are both located here. Hiroshima also boasts several historical sites. The Hiroshima Castle, located in the heart of the city, is a notable landmark. In Fukuyama-city's Tomonoura and in Takehara-city, you can explore the old town that dates back to the Edo era. However, in Hiroshima-city, few old buildings remain due to the destruction caused by the atomic bomb.
